P45 Eagle Breastplate, 1826 Pattern One Loop Harper's Ferry (Maker Marked)
Here is a nice federal breastplate recovered from Louden Heights overlooking Harpers Ferry. The face of this plate has a nice chocolate patina and the detail of the stamping is really crisp. The back retains nearly all of its lead and still has one hook. There is a lead bubble in the very middle of the back of the plate. This bubble is covering one of the E. Gaylord stamps. However, this plate was struck twice. The other marking is between the bubble and the missing hook and is clearly visible.

CSB28 Virginia State Seal Button (23mm)
Very nice Virginia state seal button. Yes...this is a dug button. You don't find dug buttons in this shape anymore. This particular one came out of Moss Neck, Jackson's camp many years ago. The shank has a hairline crack in the base but not enough to make this one unsturdy. Exceptional smooth brown button with gilting in all of the right places. Nice two piece button with stand up shank.

AR60 Confederate Parrot/Read Base Rec. Bakerton Cache Harpers Ferry Va (Now WV)
This is a nice example of a Confederate Read/Parrot Base. This base shows the typical three lands and grooves from being fired along with the dimple in the base. This piece uncleaned and uncoated. If this were to be cleaned it would have great metal. This piece was recovered in Bakerton VA. (Now WV). This piece had to be an early pickup from Jackson's victory at Harpers Ferry when he captured the arsenal. This was part of a large cache of shell bases and many fragments. This piece along with many others were excavated in the yard of an old house. They were together in one big pile, not spread out. These were obviously early items that were picked up and brought back home. Somewhere in the mix, they were placed in the yard to disappear for a few more years. There were bases to 3.8" Hotchkiss shells also in the mix. Interesting piece of history and most definitely from the Surrender in Harpers Ferry.

P48 US Cartridge Boxplate 1839 Pattern missing loops near Antietam

There are spots of Elmer's glue where the lead was flaking at one time.

AR33 24lb Confederate Boreman (Case Shot)
Here is a very nice example of a high lip boreman fused confederate shell. This particular shell is outstanding. The fuse is excellent except for the fact that it is where the shell was defused. Other than that there is nothing wrong with this shell. It shows a nice 1/2 second high lip fuse where all numbers are slightly readable except for the three where the shell was punched. The shell is very nice with very little pitting. This particular shell has been cleaned. You can still see the outline of the strapping which held this unfired shell on its sabot. There is also a faint but visible mold seam going around the shell. This would make an excellent display piece in anyone's collection. They are getting harder and harder to find in such outstanding condition.

AR18 Confederate 12lb. Boreman Shell (Case Shot) with sabot
Here is a very nice excavated 12lb Boreman shell with partial original straps and sabot. This piece is not cleaned and could be cleaned a little more if desired. The interesting thing about this shell is that it still retains parts of the original straps and a large chunk of the wooden sabot. Nice unfired example. The fuse is pushed out a little due to expansion of gases within the shell. What a great addition to your artillery display!
